I have been considering whether I should buy a vinyl fence. My current fencing really needs a lot of repair and treatment and I think that it may just be throwing good money after bad as it has been costing me more and more money ever since I put it in. I think the fact that it is wood is the main problem. I put it in and some of the panels were too close to the ground and sat in puddles. I tried to treat them but it was too late really. I have replaced those pieces several times as well as rotting posts. I have to paint it every year with wood preserver and even then I sometimes find that the animals kick holes in it. It was so expensive to put up, I feel like in some ways I do not want to replace it. But on the other hand, it keeps taking more and more of my money to keep it in a decent state of repair. In this recession I am really trying to save money but I think that I do need to be sensible and think about the long term costs as well and make sure that if I do invest in the fence, that it is one that will be well worthwhile.
